Day 9 ~ 21-day Awaken in the Present: Embrace the Now Challenge!

Day 9 ~ July 17, 2023

Happy Monday all! Day 9 is bringing in some fun to the challenge so that we can get into the present with The Power of Music!

Music can do so much for one’s soul. It can heal, uplift, make us dance, bring back memories, help us fall in love or fall out of love. There is music that will move us to tears and some that will make us laugh out loud.

However, with the right intention, it can help us to embrace the present moment as we take in the energy of the music.

A good way for me to explain this is what happens when I drive. Sometimes, I go on autopilot and just drive. I end up at my destination and wonder how I got there. I don’t remember. My mind was so steeped in thoughts that I completely zoned out. I’m sure I am not the only one this happens to. Sometimes, it is because my thoughts take hold of what happened yesterday or what is going to happen a week or year from now. Other times, it is the music, it sweeps me away to the past or the future and sometimes that imaginary world of daydreams.

Don’t get me wrong. There is a time and place for daydreaming or bringing up events and feelings from the past and future. But driving is not the best avenue for that. We really need to be awake in the present moment as we drive. And that is where intentions come in.

The other day, I was in the car with my husband and son and I got it in my mind that I wanted to listen to some goofy music. In the end we picked Weird Al Yankovic. I just love his stuff and thankfully so do they! We were singing along, laughing, and having a great time. Because that was my intention for the selection of music. I wanted to be present with the uplifting vibration of Weird Al’s music and lyrics and I wanted to be present with my family. I didn’t want to sit in silence as my mind wondered. My intention was to embrace the now and have fun with the power of music.

So today, the challenge asks you to embrace the here and now with some good tunes playing. Put your intention into what you play and why you want to play it and what you want the outcome to be. And I ask that you truly enjoy it. Hear and feel the vibration, the words, the music. Let it bring you front and center so that you can enjoy the now. There will be plenty of time for the past and future. Let the music take you to today!

Till tomorrow….
