Day 4 Challenge ~ Wilderness Scent

Exercising Clairalience (clear smelling)

Yesterday was tasting so today of course is smelling. So get those noses ready for an experience!

Today as you get outside and into the environment, explore different natural scents. Stop and smell the roses and other flowers, find some herbs to sniff or rub their leaves to release their scent like basil or thyme, grab a handful of soil and inhale, or stop by some trees that have sweet gum seed pods or pinecone. Maybe there might even be some animals that you can smell.

Inhale their scents and focus on the unique characteristics of each scent.

This will help with your connection to nature on a very different level, using your olfactory sense. For this sense has many functions including detecting desirable foods, hazards, and pheromones. By using your nose, you can tell that it is not a good idea to smell a skunk’s den or a carrion beetle to close.

Now taking it a step further, notice any intuitive scents that arise as you do this exercise that do not have a physical source. Reflect on what these scents might symbolize or the messages they convey. The more you use your nose the more it will help you smell on another level. Don’t be surprised if you start to smell things that are not coming from anything else around you. Nature has a way in helping us smell Spirit!

Take time to write down or voice record what you received and how it worked for you. You will want to reflect on your notes once the challenge is over. More about that at the end of the challenge!

Happy Smelling!
