Day 19 ~ July 27, 2023
Good day all. We are almost at the end of our 21-day journey on embracing the present! Today is Day 19 and for today the challenge is daring us to Have a Cup of Tea!
Well, it doesn’t have to be tea exactly, but I invite you to try it. If tea is not your thing, something that is calming or your usual go to drink when you want to unwind and relax will work. With this challenge, what is important is your intention and your actions.
Everyday countless people enjoy a cup of tea. However, did you know that your daily cup of tea can have a greater impact than just relaxing or adding a little break to your day? Tea can be used to create a daily intention to slow down, take a break, and embrace the now.
The act of brewing the tea is simple and even the intention you set can be as simple but the experience itself is powerful because we are engaging with the now and our senses.
Let me set the stage. You make a conscious choice to take a break and have a cup of tea. Now engage and let your senses take over to pull and keep you in the present.
Which tea is calling to you?
What flavor or aroma?
Which teacup do your hands want to hold?
As you pour the water, listen to the sounds of the water flowing?
What color does the water turn as it blends with the tea?
How does it feel to sit, the material or fabric of the chair?
How does it feel for your body to rest?
Picking up the cup, how does it feel to hold it?
How does the temperature feel in your hands?
Taking a sip, how does it feel in your mouth and as your swallow?
What does it taste like?
And so forth.
Open your senses rather than going to the past, to negative thoughts, or what is going to happen later. Stay present and feel into everything that you notice and get from your tea drinking experience.
There is so much to take in when we sit and are present with the simple act of having a cup of tea!
