Day 17 ~ July 25, 2023
What time is it? What time is it? Ugh, time! The challenge for today is to Stop the Clock!
Not being aware of the passing time is an interesting exercise when it comes to living in the present. If we constantly watch the clock, we are not focusing on what we are doing in the present moment. We are completely in the future – deadlines, appointments, what time is the next show, what is going to happen when the clock strikes whatever hour it needs to. We can get lost in anxiety from how much or how little time we have left in an allotted period.
When I was a lot younger, I used to wear a watch. And always checked it. Always needed to know what time it was and how much time I had left to complete a project, a task, a day, etc. What time is it was always the question. I don’t remember exactly when, but it has been at least 15 years since I wore a watch. And I don’t miss it at all. I feel less stressed from not chasing the clock. I am aware of the time, don’t get me wrong, but it has a different feel to it. I don’t let the constant checking and literally having it on my arm rule how it affects me.
It is funny, even with my cell phone, I tend to forget that I can check the time on it. That happens way more often than not. I will look around to find a clock if I need to really know the time forgetting it is right in my hands.
I find it so much easier to be present when I don’t worry about what the time is all the time. My day flows better, I feel less of a day drag, and much more in control of my present.
So my challenge to you all is to let time go a bit! Only by letting go of time, can we learn how to embrace the now. Know that how much you let go depends on you and what makes sense to you.
Aren’t you curious how it will feel for you?
