Day 16 ~ July 24, 2023
Good morning! Welcome back and to Day 16. Since today is Monday, I thought it would be a great time to talk about Morning Intentions! Let’s start the week off in a positive and present manner.
Starting our days with intentions is energizing. Let me start with what intention means. An intention is not a goal but the energy you put into how you want things to go, like a goal. To me they are like stepping stones that I am consciously laying down to create a path forward for myself. Clear and powerful intentions help us to focus on our day and goals and give us confidence and direction to accomplish them.
Now the goals here do not necessarily mean giant goals in life like where you are going to be in the next 10 or 20 years. They can be daily goals on what you want from your day or even the next few minutes or hours. For instance, my intention for a day might be that I want to connect deeper with everyone I encounter, or that I want to have a balanced and present day free of negative thoughts.
My morning routine is important to me as it sets my day. Now don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t always start out as I would like it to. However, if I take a few minutes to say my daily intentions and invocations, I pull myself to the present and I focus on that moment. I leave the future to what it will be as I put my intentions into the future of my day and forward.
Every chance I get I do my best to pull myself to the present. Again, there is a time and place to work on the past and future. When I want to work on those, I set my intention and schedule time for that. I just can’t have the past and future with me when I don’t need it. Hence this challenge!
If this is not already a practice you have in place, try it for a bit and let me know if anything changes for you.
